Stockholm (1990). If we consider that the photocopies of CARCASS number in the millions,
being one more is not a great merit, but this is not the case for GENERAL SURGERY. We are
in front of a group that imitates the style of another, yes, but with an overwhelming result.
The atmospheres of his 91 'Necrology' are to be placed in the very museum of horrors. Brutality,
forcefulness and an excessive taste for the obscene are his credentials. Nauseating!

Macrodex / Crypt Of Kerberos

Eskilstuna (1989). They start under the name of MACRODEX. Great and fundamental for
any fan of the genre. Dirty, moldy and highly cryptic sound. Already as CRYPT OF KERBEROS
his first works are pure half-time brutality with an undeniable resemblance to first-timers
BOLT THROWER. It is almost impossible to find a sound as heavy as yours. His LP "World of Myths",
a masterpiece, presents a quite different style, much more polished and technical without losing
forcefulness and brutality. The recent edition of the CD "The Macrodex of War" is essential to
get to know these gods. Originals!

NECRONY (Orebro ,1991)

Orebro (1991). High quality Grind / Death Metal and instrumental expertise. Their
style, impregnated with pathological connotations, inevitably leads us to compare
them with the CARCASS gods. With a compact sound, tremendously rhythmic parts are
interspersed with vertigo accelerations. Indispensable his EP of 94 where they cover
classics of CARCASS, CARNAGE, NAPALM DEATH, etc ... Sick to the core.

Saltsjobaden (1987). Quite peculiar band of the movement that had varied and important
personalities of the time, among which Matti Kärki (DISMEMBER, CARNAGE), Lars Rosemberg
(ENTOMBED), Christofer Johnsson (THERION, LIERS IN WAIT) and Markus Rüden (MORPHEUS),
among others. . At the time of the demos we are shown as creators of a cryptic and
unpolished Death Metal, to later incorporate psychedelic elements from their second LP.
A renowned and historical band that is very much worth listening to.

Dismember (Stockholm/1988)

Stockholm (1988). Essentials and example of veteran of the Swedish panorama. Three
of its members (David Blomqvist, Matti Kärki, and Fred Estby) were part of the CARNAGE
gods in their very short musical journey. Its sound is a very clear example of the
sonorous approach of the genre, with cutting and pasty guitars and an almost unparalleled
violence. His legacy has always been essential and even today they continue to edit
remarkable works. The lyrics on their first LP brought them to court in England, being
branded as “indecent and obscene”, hence the title of their second album. His most brutal
material, apart from the demos, is the content on the great EP "Pieces". Indispensable,
indecent and ... obscene!

Unleashed ( Kungsangen ,1989)

Kungsangen (1989). The Old School scene would never have been the same without the
presence of UNLEASHED. His first demos are of unimaginable rawness and brutality.
Also his first two LPs perfectly match the definition of old school Death Metal and
are tremendously rhythmic and rhythmic as well as brutal and forceful works. They
have always had a conceptual approach to their Viking ancestors, something that has
even been accentuated with the passage of time. They are still active and faithful
to their particular style although logically they have lost a lot of their initial
forcefulness. Indispensable!

Nihilist / Entombed ( Stockholm 1987)

Stockholm (1987). Formed under the name NIHILIST, they were later renamed ENTOMBED.
A fundamental exponent and pioneer of the movement, his production as NIHILIST is a
true manifesto of the genre. Already as ENTOMBED, his LP "Left Hand Path" marked an
era and is still considered today as the cornerstone of the movement. The EP "Stranger
Aeons" contains the band's most brutal material. From the "Wolverine Blues" they drift
towards Death’n’Roll trends and lose touch with the essence of the style. Essential to
understand the gender and obligatory appointment of the Old School.

CARNAGE ( Stockholm (1988 )

Stockholm (1988). Other gods on the scene. Their LP “Dark Recollections” is together
with ENTOMBED's “Left Hand Path” the greatest, brutal and savage album that Swedish
lands have given birth to in their entire history. It featured Michael Amott (CARCASS),
Johan Axelsson / Liiva (FURBOWL, ARCH ENEMY), Johnny Dordevic (ENTOMBED), and David Blomqvist,
Matti Kärki and Fred Estby (DISMEMBER) in their ranks. They had a very short life as a band but
their legacy and contribution are essential.

                     Carnage - Torn Apart

Death In Effigy ( Spain ).

We are an extreme metal band from Vitoria (Alava) formed in mid-2018 by Aritz on bass
and vocals, Eneko on drums and Nebirus on guitar and vocals, at first we started
rehearsing without taking into account a fixed course with respect to the compositions,
since each one had musical inclinations ranging from Metal Core to Black Metal, passing
through Thrash and Death metal, but little by little those compositions materialized with
themes against Christianity and other religions or dogmas that try to manipulate the
conscience of the free man, whether they are religious, or simply patriotic, nationalist
or warlike, but also touching on a few social issues such as environmental pollution that
increasingly reminds us of how contaminated this society is, unable to face solving its
problems without a spiritual crutch that we usually carry thanks to the traditional
tendency to always depend on some fac external tor many times non-existent but that
anesthetizes man and distances him from his true independence and individuality.
At the beginning of the present year 2020 we decided to enter the recording studio,
thus making possible our first ep, titled as the band “Death in Effigy” for the moment
with a lot of desire to play live and thus present the album, since we believe that It
is the best way to reach people and make our musical work known.

Currently we are already preparing what would be our first full length, but well,
little by little we will materialize it, in principle the idea is to promote the ep tha
we have recently recorded and that the entire pandemic of extreme metal Death in Effigy will
spread throughout the planet.

NIHILISTH - CARNAL LEFTOVERS

Pre-Entombed Swedish death metal powerhouse Nihilist released two demos and two EPs before becoming Entombed and going on to great fame in the death metal underground. Old timers used to talk about the first Entombed album wistfully, pointing out that the “real” Swedish death metal revolution had happened with Carnage and Nihilist.
Addressing this outlook, in 2005 Threeman Recordings issued Nihilist (1987-1989) which compiled these and another recording session, and in 2018, this was re-issued by Independence Day Recordings as Carnal Leftovers. On May 1, 2020, Earache Records will re-issue Carnal Leftovers for its big-label debut.
The compilation consists of two demos, “Premature Autopsy” and “Only Shreds Remain,” paired with the Drowned and Radiation Sickness EPs and the Entombed demo “But Life Goes On.” With only one duplicated track (“Face of Evil”) this makes a handy view into the career of this band before they were recognized, when they were most focused on the intensity of communication.
You can pre-order the CD, LP, and tshirt in various packages through the Earache webstore, anticipating it shipping in May of this year.

Testament Frontman Describes What It’s Like to Have the Coronavirus

Testament frontman Chuck Billy was one of the first high-profile members of the metal community to come down with COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus. Testament were on tour in Europe with Exodus and Death Angel through late February before dates started getting canceled, but it wasn’t until all three bands returned home in mid-March that they started experiencing symptoms.

In addition to Billy, Exodus guitarist Gary Holt and Death Angel drummer Will Carroll came down with COVID-19, with the latter hospitalized and still in rough shape. Other members of the touring party allegedly fell ill as well, including Testament bassist Steve Di Giorgio.

Edmonton’s Omniarch are set to release their debut self-titled album on May 8, 2020.

Edmonton’s Omniarch are set to release their debut self-titled album on May 8, 2020. Melodic, technical and relentless, the Canadian act is refining the chaos of death metal and adding intricate technicalities.
The first single off the debut is Ohm Cairn’, a savage journey of 6-string delights and aggressive melodies. Omniarch has been toiling away on this album and is excited to show off their handiwork to local and international fans. The album is a vastly differing and unique journey through history, mythology, the imagination, and learning through introspection and reflection and the single tells the tale of the Omniarch, his rise to power and omnipotent rule.
They have cast their net wide and expect to entice fans across the metal spectrum, in their own words:
“It is suitable for fans of aggressive, progressive and technical metal music, it is something new, but still within the realms of what we know and love. Our debut album is our full, headlining set, and plays great in the order of the album.”
Any fans of technical and progressive death metal will find comfort in the blasting sounds of Omniarch, especially those who like Revocation, Inferi, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

Interview with Cyan Bloodbane by Didac López.

Cyan Bloodbane, was formed in 1997. Of that very first formation there is only
Xavier
Escayola (Guitar) and the Quesada brothers, Toni on drums and Eric on keyboards
and vocals.
During this time countless members have passed, why is so much change due?

Hello Didac! A pleasure talking with you!
- The truth is that we have already been 25 years, this May we turned 25, in 1997
we did
our first concert, but we had already two years, the changes of formation is a
normal thing
in this of music, especially when you do not live from it.
Cyan Bloodbane has always had the door open for everyone, we have never wanted
this to be
an obligation, but it is very difficult to combine it with family, work ... perhaps
now I
would say that we are at our best!

Have you been on the scene for 23 years, in which you have recorded, 2 demos,
3 albums and two tributes? What has changed from that first demo "Camino a la sombra"
to your album "Espiritu de lucha"?

-Well ... maybe we are playing well now !!! the experience is very important, and
years ago
we had a lot of desire but we lacked that experience .... as I said before, I think
that now
the group sounds very compact and we we understand very well.

The time elapsed between one recording to another, is it because several of you play
in other bands?

-No no, not at all, it has never influenced that, we never consider the time between
disc and
disc, it comes out when we think it is convenient, when we think we have something
good to offer
... without haste, although perhaps it took too long to get this last.,

What are your lyrics about?

-Our lyrics started talking about epic themes, about the fantastic genre of sword
and witchcraft,
but perhaps now not all lyrics are like that, both in New times and the Spirit of
struggle, there
is reference to today's society, the world we live in, the injustices, and also
regarding more epic
and fantastic genre issues.

Bands that influenced you to play Power Metal, both national and foreign.

-Evidently when we started in the mid 90's, Power Metal was booming .... bands
like Running Wild,
Rage, Grave Digger, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, Hammerfall, Rhapsody ..... it
was what we listened
a lot, since national level of course our two great references, Medina Azahara
and Sangtrait.

Do you compose the songs together?

-Musically each one contributes his grain of sand .... the theme of the lyrics is
more personal ... in
this last album, the lyrics were written by Javi Gianno, (less GRAM,) and previously,
in New Times they
were written by Santi Andreo (minus YOUR LAND) ... Eric took care of the lyrics for
the first two.

I think you have always been self-financed, your work. Have you had any contact with
any record company?

-Yes, we have had several contacts..but it never seemed appropriate to do so .... we
think that for now
it is going well for us ... after all, nobody is going to pay you for the album !! !!

I know that now that with COV19, everything has stopped, until this world pandemic
passes.
Since I have mentioned it, what do you think of this virus?

-Well, it's terrible, the truth is that nobody could imagine all this ...... 😰

Did you have closed concerts, this year?

-The truth is that yes, we had several concerts announced and some more to announce ... we
do not know what will happen, we find it difficult to return to the live shows this year!

Finally, could you tell me what fans can expect from this, your latest work?

-We are very happy with how it is working, we are selling enough copies, even in
America
and
Europe, we define it Power Metal from the 90s ... who likes epic will love it, we
are
looking
forward to going out again to be able to continue presenting it live! 💪💪

Thank you very much, and I hope to see you again soon live.I missed the last one
you gave in Terrassa in the SalaRagna Rock. They spoke highly of the concert to me.

-Thank you very much, for the unconditional support during these 25 years ... because
you
have seen us born !!
